We finished off the trip wandering around the historic centre of Mexico City until our flight was due in the evening - a vibrant, colourful place that left me feeling that the city was a great place after all (just avoid driving through the northern suburbs).
So I have realised a dream. Did it come up to my expectations? Well, I didn't really know what to expect. I knew the plants would always be spectacular, and they were - but in a far greater way and on a much greater scale than I could possibly have imagined. What surpassed my wildest hopes was everything else. The country, what we saw of it, was beautiful beyond imagination. The landscapes were dramatic and wild. The food - I don't think I have eaten as well (and I still lost a couple of pounds). The people were in the main happy, open and friendly. We just scraped the surface - there was so much to look at.
Would I go again? Tomorrow, if I could.
Hasta la proxima...
